THURAYA-1 is launched from the equator in the Pacific aboard a Sea Launch Zenit-3SL rocket.
Commercial service begins in Pakistan. Thuraya sponsors the National Grass Tennis Championship and a Junaid Jamshed concert.
A Spanish expedition on K2 stays in touch with the world through Thuraya satellite phones.
THURAYA-2 launches successfully. Thuraya exhibits at the Telecom Exhibition in Lahore and ITCN Asia in Karachi.
Thuraya marks its first year of commercial service in Pakistan and sponsors the Lahore Polo Club.
